Givenchy F/W 2011

ROARING AHEAD: Riccardo Tisci’s fall collections for Givenchy — which featured snarling Rottweiler prints for him, panthers for her — inspired a campaign with equal ferocity. Naomi Campbell and Natalia Vodianova are among models who posed on printed cushions — one at a time, not in a gang as Tisci usually prefers — and roared for the lens of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Tisci described the women’s spots as “dark 1950s pinups,” while the men’s campaign has a touch of “Jerry Lewis combined with American sportswear.” The media buy is described as on par with last season, with the images breaking in select September fashion titles.

According to Deadline, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers has signed on to star in the romance Belle Du Seigneur and “will play a Jewish diplomat who gets into a passionate affair with a married Swiss woman, played by Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova (Clash of the Titans), on the eve of the Second World War.” The film is based on the novel by Albert Cohen. Here’s the book description [via Amazon]:

Set in Geneva in the 1930s, Albert Cohen’s endlessly inventive satire of middle-class manners and ambition revolves around Solal, a man of remarkable gifts and disappointed ideals. As Under-Secretary-General of the League of Nations, he has become disillusioned with a world dominated by personal and national interest. His one hope for redemption is through love, and he embarks on the seduction of the beautiful Ariane, wife of the dull-witted Adrien Deume, who works for Solal.

Celebs join trustee awareness campaign
4 September, 2010 · Author: · Catagories: News · No Comments

Newsreader Jon Snow and cricketer Andrew Flintoff are among the names lending their support to the first annual Trustees’ Week, designed to increase awareness of the role.

Taking place from 25 to 31 October, the campaign aims to celebrate the work of existing trustees and increase awareness and understanding of the role.

Other celebrities on board include journalists Eve Pollard and Martyn Lewis, model Natalia Vodianova and actresses Brooke Kinsella and Jenny Seagrove.

The campaign, which is being run by the Charity Commission in partnership with Charity Trustee Networks, NCVO, Reach Volunteering, Getting on Board and the ICAEW, says that almost half of charities have a vacancy on their trustee board.

Dame Suzi Leather, chair of the Charity Commission, said: “Many people have skills and experience that they could bring to being a charity trustee, but our research shows that often people do not know what the role entails.

“Talking to trustees I’m always struck by the thing they have in common – a desire to live a life beyond themselves.”

Jon Snow, who is trustee of five charities, said: “Trusteeship is mind-expanding, at times demanding, almost always rewarding, and constantly surprising. It has given me the opportunity to learn about the lives and issues of others, developing a perspective on elements of life I might never otherwise have encountered.

“Becoming a trustee can bring enormous personal fulfilment and may be of more value to others than you begin to know.”

Natalia for Bugaboo (RED)
10 May, 2010 · Author: · Catagories: Campaigns, Gallery, News · No Comments

Model Natalia Vodianova recently struck a pose–while surrounded by babies–as the face of Bugaboo’s partnership with (RED), the initiative to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. Bugaboo has agreed to contribute 1% of all its revenue to the Global Fund.

And Vodianova couldn’t be happier to participate, joking with Oliver Bennett in an interview, “I’m always broody around children. They’re so cute and adorable.” She continued, “If I can support children worldwide, of course I want to help….HIV/AIDS is a very smart enemy of the human race and the fact that children are born carrying this enemy makes me sad.”

Vodianova also shared some stories from her childhood–she grew up in Nizhni Novgorod, Russia and started working in a market at age 11: “I come from a very poor background, brought up by a single mum, with a little sister who is mentally disabled.”

She became a model at age 17, and eleven years later, has three children of her own. “My oldest son is very sensitive, while my youngest son is the cheeky one. My daughter is a princess who gets away with everything,” she said.
