On May 7, Natalia will appear on the CNN show My City My Life where she will show the camera her personal favorite places in Moscow and speak about her childhood, family and career mode. Here’s an excerpt from that interview:
CNN: How would you describe Moscow?
NV: It’s a city of contrasts. You have this great culture and traditions that are very normal, calm and established. And then you have explosion of emotion, of craziness, of art and young people who are so proud to be Muscovites and really trying to be individuals.CNN: What’s the fashion in Moscow?
NV: You see women in jeans wearing very high heels and a short Puffy jacket. It’s really funny!
Rags to riches? A modern-day Cinderella? When people discuss Natalia Vodianova, these phrases get thrown around a lot. It is true that Natalia had a poor upbringing, but as she puts it, “I know some people would have wanted to kill themselves, but I thought my childhood was happy. My mother worked nearly 24 hours a day, and I realize things were difficult, but I managed to find a lot of light there. I had this weird knowledge that, one day, things would be good.”
